“We were traveling around Europe this summer, and Die Port van Cleve, a 4-star budget hotel in Amsterdam, was our first stop during our 10 day trip. This affordable Amsterdam hotel was housed in a beautiful historic building in a nice location: close to the Dam Square and the Anne Frank House. For trams and busses there was a stop in front of the hotel.
We were offered a room on the front side of the hotel and there was a wonderful view of the Royal Palace out of our window. The room itself was just average, but clean and comfortable and pretty well equipped with a hairdryer, a safety deposit box, Internet connection, a telephone, a TV set and radio. The hotel personnel were very attentive and very quick to bring us a trouser press and coffee & tea making facilities when we asked for them. I think that the apartment’s only drawback was that it was noisy at night as the trams run late.
As for food we can’t comment on that because we thought that EUR 17.50 per person for a continental breakfast was too expensive. There were so many nice cafes near Die Port van Cleve that there was no problem to find good food for cheap. The hotel bar was excellent: they specialize in Dutch gin and liquor tasting, as well as serving usual drinks and light meals.
All in all, we found Die Port van Cleve to be a nice cheap 4-star Amsterdam hotel with attentive staff and excellent location. We would recommend this hotel and would stay there again.”
]]>The hotel personnel were super friendly both at the reception area and the breakfast room. Breakfast wasn’t included and cost EUR 15.00 per person. The food choice included a fine spread of meat, cheese, bread, cereals, juices, fruits, coffee, tea, etc. It was good enough to keep you going until lunch. By the way, there was a great Indonesian restaurant just around the corner.
Overall, we had a great stay at Hotel RobertRamon. We would recommend this cheap Amsterdam hotel for those who need a good basic hotel, which is clean and cheap.”
]]>“My wife and I have just returned from a short trip to Amsterdam where we stayed at NH Museum Quarter. Our hotel was near the “Museumkwartier” or the Museum Quarter - as the name suggests. Actually, location was the most important reason for choosing a cheap hotel in Amsterdam, because we did not want to be in the center and we did want to be near the museums - NH Museum Quarter was ideally located at the edge of the historical centre. There were a lot of places to eat within a 15 minute walk of the hotel in any direction, so you can skip the breakfast and eat out. (Take a chance to try some delicious sweets and pastries in a patisserie which is a few blocks away from the hotel).
We stayed 4 nights in a spacious corner room overlooking the canal. Our room was air conditioned, equipped with fridge, safe, TV and Wi-Fi. Bathroom was just great and everything was changed and replaced daily with absolutely no fuss. No mini-bar was available, but there were vending machines on every floor selling soft drinks and beer. We saw a gym or a fitness club, but we can’t comment on that as we had no time to go and see it.
All in all, NH Museum Quarter suited our needs very well and this comfortable Amsterdam hotel is a good place I would highly recommend.”
]]>We stayed four nights at NH Barbizon Palace, Tuesday through Friday. We were offered a corner room overlooking a canal. The room was very spacious compared to the most budget accommodations in Amsterdam. The room was equipped with a comfortable king-size bed, a large TV set, a desk and plenty of storage. Tea and coffee facilities were available and the room was cleaned daily. Marble bathroom was fantastic; the complimentary toiletries were nice too! We didn’t hear much noise during our stay even though Amsterdam and the hotel were very busy.
Breakfast wasn’t included in our package, so we had to pay EUR 25.00 per person. It was delicious, but I still think that EUR 25.00 per person is quite expensive. However, if you prefer to eat outside there are plenty of cafes nearby to eat in.
Overall, we had a nice time in NH Barbizon Palace in Amsterdam and highly recommend it.”
]]>The room was functional and clean, the bed was comfortable and the shower worked and that was enough for me.
Breakfast was served downstairs and it was very good and enough to start the day off. There were about 10 tables available for breakfast with very fast service and friendly staff. The hotel guests seemed to be a mixture of tourists and business people.
If you are looking for a cheap, but centrally located place to stay in Amsterdam, Hotel Citadel would be the right choice.”
]]>We have stayed at this hotel in September 2007 between the dates of 15th-19th. Hotel de Filosoof is in a ten-minute tram journey from the Central Station, the Filosoof is located in a quiet residential area near the Vondelpark. Location was nice, very close to a tram stop and only a few minutes walk from Van Gogh’s Museum and Rijksmuseum.
Our room was situated across the road from the main hotel building. It was really funky in decor, and we had everything we needed for a short stay in Amsterdam. Our room was tidied up every day, it was warm and quiet.
Breakfast was not included and costs EUR 15.00 per person. It was served in a cozy and quiet breakfast room. Breakfast was satisfactory, service was quick and the staff were helpful and friendly.
Our overall impression of Hotel de Filosoof was very positive. Probably, we would stay there again.”
]]>My room faced away from the Central Station, so it wasn’t noisy at all. It was clean and the size of the room and the bathroom was rather large by European standards. Shower pressure in the bathroom was fantastic. The room was equipped with wireless Internet, direct dial telephone, cable TV, movie channel, mini-bar and a safe. The bed was comfortable and the bed linen was fresh.
The public areas of Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam, such as lobby, lounges, hallways, business center, were all very stylish and presentable.
I actually had no time to use hotel’s leisure facilities - indoor swimming pool, gym, sauna, steam bath and solarium, but did go for a quick look and I hope to use them next time (I am sure I will stay there again, because our company often uses it for conferences).
The staff of Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam were very professional, always friendly and very attentive to the guests’ needs.
Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam is a good business inexpensive Amsterdam hotel which I highly recommend.”
Apple Inn Hotel is a 2-star cheap Amsterdam hotel in a nice quiet location. It is very easy to reach the hotel from Central Station if you take a tram (it took us approximately 15 minutes). Amsterdam’s cultural spots were within walking distance from Apple Inn Hotel Amsterdam: Vondelpark, Concertgebouw, the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, and the Stedelijk Museum. I guess Apple Inn Hotel is ideally located for city exploration.
As I have already mentioned I traveled with two girlfriends and, in order to save some money, we decided to book a triple room. Now I realize that we should not all have shared one small room. I felt uncomfortable because our room was overcrowded. Of course, that wasn’t the hotel’s fault - that was our decision to live together and spend money on sightseeing rather than on hotel comfort. This time, when we are planning a trip to Paris, I am going to stay in my own room.
Our room in Apple Inn Hotel Amsterdam was equipped with everything necessary for a short stay: a private bathroom, a television, a hair drier and a telephone. Breakfast was included and consisted of cereals, cheese, ham, bread, coffee, tea and juice.
All in all, we were satisfied by our stay in Apple Inn Hotel Amsterdam. I can recommend it for those who travel on budget.”
]]>We shared a triple room which faced onto a canal that runs at the back of the hotel. Our room was spacious enough with 3 single comfortable beds, flat screen TV, full length mirror and a wonderful shower room. It seemed like our room had been renovated fairly recently as it looked very modern and fresh. Room was very clean and tidy and housekeeping called daily with fresh towels. There was only one complaint about the room equipment: the lack of tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
Breakfast wasn’t included in our room price, so we had to pay extra EUR 14.00 per person. Continental breakfast included hot and cold items.
We enjoyed our stay in that inexpensive Amsterdam hotel and if we go back to Amsterdam we will book this hotel again.”
]]>The overall atmosphere of Die Port van Cleve Amsterdam was warm and welcoming. The staff was excellent. My room was on the fifth floor and it was really bright, cosy and big enough for me. I had a safety deposit box, Internet connection, telephone, TV and radio in my hotel room. The bed was very comfy and the bedding was lovely cotton and very comfortable, the bathroom was tidy and it was equipped with a bath/shower, toilet and hairdryer.
I spent very little time in my room as there was so much to see and to do in Amsterdam. I didn’t have breakfast in the hotel, so I can’t comment on the food.
Die Port van Cleve Amsterdam is also convenient for conferences and business meetings. I would recommend this affordable Amsterdam hotel both for leisure and business trips.”
